"GROSSSTADTKLEIN" continues this tradition of promoting projects of promising newcomers, with producers Til Schweiger and Tom Zickler mentoring the effort of writer and first-time director Tobias Wiemann.
Ole (Jacob Matschenz) lives in the northeastern corner of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. His life consists of motorbike races with his buddies (Kostja Ullmann, Pit Bukowski). Nothing would ever change, had not his grandfather Karl secured an internship for Ole in Berlin – without his grandson knowing it! Ole is supposed to stay with his cousin Rokko (Klaas Heufer-Umlauf). But Rokko ist not at all happy to welcome Ole because his dad Manni (Tobias Moretti) has been feuding the rest of the family for decades. But then Ole falls in love with the fresh and crazy Fritzi (Jytte-Merle Böhrnsen) when they are making out on the backseat of a stolen car. But soon the big city ride comes to an abrupt halt when the phone rings: Grandpa Karl is dead! Uncle Manni, Rokko, Fritzi and Ole go on the road to attend the funeral. Worlds collide when Ole realizes that a kiss in the country is not a declaration of love in the big city. Still events develop in an unexpected way: Cousin Rokko turns out to be real friend! With a load of buckshot in their behinds and love in their hearts they finally manage what Grandpa Karl always had wished for. But will Ole be able to win Fritzi's heart? A story about a chaotic family, real friendship and the first true love!
